This rod has blown us away recently! Originaly launched as Penn's flagship modern beach rod in 2024 for a whopping £530, this rod features 50 Ton carbon, a full set of Fuji KWAGs and a Fuji gold label real seat. 

Given the spec and, more importantly, the incredible weight and balance of the rod, this rod was well worth the price tag. However, the latter part of 2025 saw a global Penn price restructuring and this rod dropped massively to £350! Now that is a bargain for a rod of this quality!

That's all well and good, but where does this rod fit in to the collection? Well, for me it's an absolute pleasure to use in the 4 and 5oz bracket. I have chucked 6oz on it, and was very surprised at how well it did it, but it's the lighter two weights where it excels. The real shining point is the tip, though! It features a decent length hybrid tip, for superb bite detection, and the whole tip section is wonderfully forgiving. It cushions tide, bites and big fish wonderfully, meaning playing a fish on this rod is a joy. I can see myself using this rod a lot for all my clean ground work when there's not too much weed around (I favour a tubular tip for heavy weed!). This rod had been a joy to use for my ray fishing over the last couple of months, and I'm really lookng forward to using for bass in the spring and bream in the summer. It'll also make a super flatfish rod. 

The blank is exceptionally crisp, and recovers like lightning, yet maintains the ease you'd expect from a modern three piece rod. 

At this price point, we think you'll struggle to find a better rod!
